ROG Zephyrus S17 GX703HS tests a low-key and steady performance

ROG Zephyrus S17 GX703HS tests a low-key and steady performance

Since ASUS released the ROG Zephyrus series in 2017, this e-sports laptop with a thin body and powerful performance has become synonymous with ROG’s flagship model. This year, Brian also tested it for you. Zephyrus Dou 15 SE with dual-screen design, and Zephyrus M16 with unique colorful film design on the screen cover.

And what I want to share with you in this article is the newly released ROG Zephyrus S17 gaming laptop this year, which continues the Zephyr’s slim design, with an Intel Core i9 processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 graphics hardware specifications, although it’s not gorgeous. Its dual-screen configuration is also a flagship e-sports model that should not be underestimated.

Zephyrus S17 uses an endless black color scheme. The matte layer texture shows the texture of refined technology. The pen motor body is also made of magnesium-lithium alloy. The cover of the screen also continues the dual-material texture design of ROG, with the golden ratio dividing line in the center. It is also printed with the words Republic of Gaming, and it is mirror-finished, and the ROG Logo is mirror-finished. It can be said to be an integrated design of faith.

The front end of the laptop has a dual woofer hole design, with a groove design on the screen cover that can be activated with a single finger, and there is no accident at the end of the fuselage with the left and right cooling holes.

This laptop is equipped with a 90WHr rechargeable lithium battery, and uses 1 set of new PCIe Gen4 x4 transmission interface slots, with 2 sets of PCIe Gen3 x4, and can support up to 2TB storage capacity configuration. The wireless network chip is ASUS AW-XB468NF. Support Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 wireless transmission technology. Finally, the memory has only a single slot configuration, and the original factory will provide OnBoard memory. This may be a pity for friends who are pursuing high-capacity memory.

Zephyrus S17 uses an optomechanical axis configuration, with 0.2ms tap response time, 1.9mm key travel, and 0.15mm ergonomic keycaps. The actual tapping feel is close to an island-style keyboard, but there are many more mechanical axes. The feedback on the case is quite satisfactory to me. Compared with the previous model (GX701), the touchpad at the bottom has 125% more operating space and supports gesture operation and multi-touch functions.

With a laptop thickness of 1.99cm, the Zephyrus S17 weighs 2.77Kg, which is not so friendly in terms of portability. The 280W transformer included with the laptop continues the past design style, with the weight of the power cord. Coming to the 1.02Kg spectrum, if you really want to carry it out and want to maintain effective performance, a total of 3.79Kg will fall on your shoulders, which of course does not include the weight of the backpack and other accessories.
